Looking for a Montessori school, but concerned about the hefty tuition? You may want to consider Anderson Academy. Anderson is a public Montessori magnet school in the Aldine school district offering open enrollment for first through fourth grade Acres Homes students. Students outside of the neighborhood enter a lottery for a chance to attend this award-winning school. The awards that have been showered upon Anderson Academy include Magnet School of Distinction, Title I Distinguished Performance School, Gold Performance School and One of the Best Public Schools in Texas for Reading and Math. Anderson’s mascot is Houston’s favorite sports team, the Astros, and the 777 students are called Stars. To continue the star-studded theme, the school’s motto is to Aim for Astronomical Achievement. Although Anderson’s magnet focus is science, technology, engineering, arts and math, the school is especially proud of its fine arts program. Artwork from Anderson students regularly wins prizes in the Houston Rodeo art contests and has been displayed at City Hall. Anderson is considered the second stop in an excellent all-around education with a fine arts focus that students can begin and end in Acres Homes; but even students who aren’t particularly interested in fine arts will shine at Anderson Academy.

At least one teacher HITS and bullies her students. Administrators look the other way an make excuses for her behavior. Thank God I was able to move my child to a better school. If you can avoid this school, do it.

We love Anderson Academy! The teachers are passionate about my children's success and spend time before school tutoring them. They provide plenty of opportunities for parents to be involved and communicate. I'm sorry to see a previous post of a negative experience... I can speak on 4 years and 2 chi...
