One might think DRAW Academy is all about art, but the school’s name is actually an acronym for “Diversity, Roots and Wings" Academy. This local charter school network offers a dual language program and uses innovative, hands-on teaching methods to help students make connections between disciplines, address learning gaps and fulfill each student’s academic needs.
Education at DRAW Academy begins with prekindergarten classes at the Early Learning Center on Westglen Drive, one of the school’s four main campuses. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade share the school's complex of buildings on Stoney Brook Drive, which is just around the corner.
After graduating from the Early Learning Center, students move to the Main Campus for kindergarten through third grade. Fourth through seventh grade students attend classes at the Upper Campus and the school’s Annex is reserved for eighth graders only.
The school offers a well-rounded curriculum in the core subjects of math, science, language arts and social studies, with supplemental courses in art, music and technology. Extracurricular activities at DRAW Academy include fun field trips, a bike-a-thon, band, running team, art and student council.
