The Barbara Jordan Career Center, previously known as Barbara Jordan High School for Careers, is Houston Independent School District’s only career center. Students are equipped for promising careers through a mix of core classes, dual-credit courses, state and national licensures, and certification programs.
At the Jordan Career Center, students have the opportunity to pursue a variety of career paths, including automotive technology, construction technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, government and diplomacy, health science, marketing, and welding. All this and more is available thanks in part to the career center’s new building, a 120,000-square-foot structure offering state-of-the-art equipment and technology for students.
The campus serves high school students throughout the city, including from Furr, Heights, Kashmere, North Forest, Northside, Washington, Wheatley and Yates. Students stay enrolled at their home high schools and take classes concurrently at the Barbara Jordan Career Center. Career classes typically take place in the morning or the afternoon, and transportation to and from each students’ home school is provided.
Named after legendary former Texas state senator and representative Barbara Jordan, the career center is dedicated to the legacy of its namesake. By equipping students with trade skills and certifications, the Jordan Career Center is fueling Houston’s future.

BJ has absolutely nothing to offer , majority of the students are in groups , clubs etc outside of BJ . Careers are rapidly declining and everything is just so unorganized . Students push themselves so that they can hurry and leave . Majority of the kids transfer by second semester . It's really not...

I am current Senior at Barbara Jordan and although I agree things at the school has drastically change and there are more changes to come but Barbara Jordan isn't a bad school its not great but not bad either. There are a select few of good teachers who really do care and who really do what to help...
