Located on South Rice Avenue next to Meyerland Park, Lovett Elementary School is a public magnet school in the Meyerland neighborhood of Houston. Opened in 1957 and named after the founder of nearby Rice University, Lovett Elementary serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade, in addition to the school’s preschool program. A big draw to Lovett Elementary is the school’s inclusion in the Houston Independent School District’s Magnet School for the Fine Arts, a program that includes specialized instruction in art, band, orchestra, choir, dance and theater arts. The school offers a full slate of extracurriculars and schoolwide events and activities. Along with chorus, student council and the “Name That Book” literary contest, students at Lovett also participate in Houston’s Art Car Parade every year. The curriculum at Lovett Elementary includes the core subjects of math, science, social studies, reading and writing. Students are also progressing at a rate beyond their Texas peers. Substantial progress plus high test scores make for a winning combination at this Houston public school.

If you have an out of the box kid who is a boy...stay far away. The administration is laughable. Their COVID in person is more like virtual as the older grades...

She's in the GT program and I love how they have challenged her. The other parents are very friendly and the over all scho...

They did band and orchestra, respectively, and loved their school experience. It was a wonderful school with dedicated teachers, and Dawn Thompson is a highly professional,...
