Sneed Elementary School, an Alief Independent School District campus, is Westchase’s primary elementary institution, serving about 1,000 pre-k through fourth grade students. Located on Pagewood Lane north of the Westpark Tollway, Sneed Elementary enrolls students who live south of Westheimer Road, east of Beltway 8, and north of Harwin Drive. Established in 1990, Sneed Elementary is named after Ruth Sneed, a longtime educator who taught in Texas schools for decades. Today, the average teacher at Sneed Elementary has about 10 years of teaching experience. The school’s mascot is the dinos. Sneed Elementary students can dive into a variety of activities through the school’s mix of classroom learning opportunities, library programs, community events, and more. Sneed students integrate technology into the learning process wherever possible, which is made easier thanks to Alief ISD’s student device program. Beginning in the third grade, this program offers Alief ISD students a loaned device from the district for on-campus and at-home learning. As for extracurricular activities, programs like a library reward system and a social-emotional running program for girls, allow students to work toward tangible goals. In all, Sneed is a lively Westchase school where foundational learning takes place inside and outside of the classroom.
