Growing up, I was the oldest child. Being put in that situation, I feel as if I learned to be a leader from an early age. My dad has always been hard on me, but in a way that I could learn to do things on my own. He taught me to "figure it out" on my own, instead of just doing it for me. Looking back at all the lessons and things I've had to do on my own, makes me appreciate my dad. From a young age, I've always been on a team, such as basketball and softball. Being on a team has taught me many things. One is that nothing is given to you, you have to earn it. Looking bad at all the times I was aggravated about not playing well, I realize all the hard work I put in and how far it got me. Another lesson being on a team has taught me is the "leadership" role. Leadership is a role that is with you at all times, not just when you feel about it. Being a leader on days where you might not be performing the best or just having an overall bad day, is hard.

One of the best experiences I had at Howe High School was the communication between teacher and student. The teachers genuinely care about how you are doing as a student. There is really nothing bad about Howe High School.
