I have really enjoyed my opportunity to work here. This is my second year as a kindergarten teacher. I truly appreciate the opportunity I have to learn and grow to become a better teacher for the students that I have the privilege of teaching. I like feeling like a part of the team and being able to collaborate with my coworkers to better myself and my class.

My kids will NOT return to Alturas. If your child has any 504 or IEP in place, make sure you hold them accountable for what YOU want for your child. You know your child best and it should not be the other way around. I won't forget that experience and it was a shame how it all went for myself and what my 6-year-old was told. I should have held my ground better for my child, but in the end, pulling her from the school was the best decision and she's still working out some anxiety from what she experienced as a result of attending Alturas in 2022. Every child is unique and so very special, there should never be someone in the educational system labeling a child "a bad kid," especially when they have few extra needs than what you would consider a "normal" kid. (I have worked for this school and had two children attend.) She's at a great school now who has a staff who know how to work with her needs, are patient, helpful, loving, and my child just loves school once again.

I would never recommend this school to anyone who has a child that has extra needs. They say in a video about kids "who fall between the cracks," The ones they are referring to are the kids who are higher learners and can't get the extra material to thrive.
