Since 1989, Ionia High School has been the home of Bulldog Pride. The modern, award-winning educational center is home to a diverse range of academic, athletic and extracurricular opportunities. From ninth through 12th grade, students can enroll in online courses through the Douglas R. Welch Virtual School or train at the Ionia County Career Center, all from the spacious school campus.
Student-athletes at Ionia High compete in the Capital Area Activities Conference. A YMCA-staffed swimming pool, expansive gymnasium and multiple outdoor fields host home games for a variety of sports. The Ionia County Career Center, formerly Heartlands Institute of Technology, provides Career Technical Education for participating students. Courses include health occupations, culinary arts, automotive education and more.
The Ionia Public School District has offered high school education to the surrounding community since the early 1900s. Since then, many diverse programs have been added, such as robotics club, band and choir competitive and performance groups, Student Council, Science Olympiad and Spanish Club. As one of the highest-rated public high schools in Ionia County, Ionia High is a competitive school of choice for students to learn GRIT: Growth Mindset, Respect, Integrity and Teamwork.

I loved how many groups there were. There is a club or group for everyone. All the teachers I have had has always been really great. Something I would like to see change is the food, it was better last year but I think it can get better.

They have been willing to help me in anything I want to accomplish. I would not change a thing. The staff has been willing to help with anyone and everyone. They make me feel safe in my environment. They always make you feel welcome and the community is very supportive for every person especially the athletics program and they go above and beyond to help everyone.

There wasn't enough teacher envolvment they just showed up did there job and went home. There was a lot of bullying and nothing got done about it. There weren't very many clubs for your students to get involved in. The sports teams seemed to be predetermined regardless of try outs. would not recommend you sending your student here.
