My experience has been great at this school. DCPS offers a lot of great resources for students to use and prepped me in career readiness to have experience under my belt to elevate me compared to other students straight out of high school. The academies offered by the school are a great advantage to get ahead and do amazing things very early on with professional companies or amazing schools.

1- The school spent so much money on renovating everything to say Jackson-Reed instead of Wilson even when there's bad Wi-Fi in the 1st floor B wings and broken doors and bathrooms on all the floors. 2- While this school undeniably has amazing programs like the academies, the teachers leave much to be desired as they can make or break the class (they usually break it) 3- The management seems particularly bad for some reason as things are constantly unorganized I do want to preface that as a student of this school, I am in no way unbiased. I have a lot of negative bias towards this school so that may be why I lean more on criticisms of this establishment.

One of the best parts about Jackson-Reed High school is it's one of the best public schools in DC, meaning we have access to a variety of resources to our display, because of these resources I'm able to become smarter every day I attend Jackson-Reed. We have great academics and even better teachers. However, the school could use some renovations. One example of this is the locker rooms. Compared to other DC public schools, we have one of the worst locker rooms, but yet we have more resources then any other dc public school(for the most part). Another thing I don't particularly like is, the rat infestation. Despite my worst experiences with the school, overall its a great school and I cannot see myself in any other public school in DC.

I think the school is very diverse and the students are doing well both academically and in sports. This rating has to be increased.

As a teacher at Jackson-Reed High School (formerly Wilson), I can assure you that the pedagogical practices of the teachers are top notch and solid. With over 150 teachers and almost 2400 students in the building, there will always be a student who has an occasional difficulty with a teacher or has...

We sent our oldest son here when we first moved to DC based on the Great Schools rating. Our son, who is typically very socially adaptable and academically engaged, quickly lost interest in school and began showing signs of depression and anxiety. When we finally got him to talk about what was happe...
