Located at 3747 W Esplanade Ave. N in Metairie, the Jewish Community Day School of Greater New Orleans serves the Jewish community by educating children from two months old through sixth grade. This private learning institution’s campus is shared with the Metairie Jewish Community Center and the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans.
The children’s campus was designed with colorful hallways that were decorated with the student’s own artwork. This creates an atmosphere of excitement and belonging for the nearly 100 children attending the school. Class sizes are purposefully kept small to allow the students to socialize and build a strong community with their peers while receiving individualized attention from the educators.
Founded in 1996, the day school also strives to build community through acts of service. During the pandemic, the children helped Green Light New Orleans, an environmental conservation organization, by painting rain barrels while making sure to follow Covid precautions.
There are two learning programs featured by the day school. The first is the Green Preschool, which uses creative play to teach two-month-olds through four-year-olds. At that point, five-year-olds may begin standard preschool and continue in the Jewish Community Day School through sixth grade. This school is the best school we could have asked for! We moved from out of state and the school community at JCDS became our second home as they embraced us and creating a supportive, loving environment for my two elementary aged boys.

Excellent, Love the school and amazing staff.

This school claims to provide individualized attention to each students. However, my son progressed academically only when I spent time working with him at home. When I asked his teacher about challenging him, she answered that she does not have the time.

Both my children attend the Jewish Community Day School. I have been thrilled with the education they have received and would highly recommend the school. The school has a very low student-teacher ratio which allows for my children to receive individualized attention.
