GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Opinions on Johnstown High School are very mixed. I have so far loved my experience ! I've made wonderful friends, joined new clubs, and gotten many opportunities. Others at my school don't see their experience so positively. A common complaint (and one of my own) is that the curriculum is far less advanced than other schools in the area. However, overall I believe Johnstown to have made a positive impact on my life, and be a generally good high school.

Greater Johnstown could be a lot worse. It's not the best school, but it is far from the worst. The students and teachers here form bonds. It's nice to be able to turn to a teacher when having a rough time. Even after graduating students come back to visit the teachers. The curriculum is challenging enough; you have to work for the grade you want. Not everyone is shoved into one class and expected to learn as well as the other kids. There is a diverse way of learning and it is helpful.

The students here have ruined my experience with the school and I am ashamed of what happened to the school. It use to be very nice here with kind students who cared about there education and I hope that it would stay the same. The school is in a nice area but need some work done to it for minor improvements.

I have been in johnstown schools my whole life from pre-k and I am now going into my senior year and from day one this school has been bad. Kids always fighting, vaping/smoking. Students always skipping and never in class just hanging out with a teacher or security officer who likes them and will le...

Unfortunately this once proud district and school has truly become a cesspool. Violence, bullying, and drug use to pervasive. Gangs run the school, not the administration. Really disappointed to see.
