GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My experience at Kearney from the 4th grade to graduation was a rollercoaster. I was not exposed to much culture in the district, and I was not consistently challenged as far as content within my classes. I was, however, given many opportunities to improve my personal growth in terms of academics, such as college classes and work release classes. I was able to take courses at a career center and earn my CNA, which has since proved to be crucial in my career path's growth. I'm thankful for my opportunity to be a student at Kearney.

As a senior at this High school, I found the atmosphere to be relatively restrictive. There are a few good teachers mixed in throughout teachers who obviously hate children or only favor a few of them. The school administration does not do much, and although the students try to improve the atmosphere, it's obviously not working.

the administration is awful. Students are given less attention if they are not an athlete. There is very little diversity.

Would not recommend this school at all. I'm moving out of this school district because it is so bad. There is no diversity whatsoever, there is bullying and a lot of white supremacist people. DO NOT go here if LGBTQIA+ at all. You would not be able to come out without being harassed daily for it. A...

Very disappointed in this school district. Transferred my family from a bigger school district to Kearney, despite being warned by a friend about a bullying issue. This year was going okay because the “mean girls” all seem to have last names L-Z and thanks to the hybrid schedule my youngest daughter...

Kearney High School is a great school. The kids are smart, the teachers are great. The way that they get the kids ready for college is fantastic. All three of my kids graduated and went off to college, where they also graduated. No complaints!

All schools have good and bad aspects but for an overall quality education, access to a multitude of extra-curricular activities, and teachers and staff that care, you can't top Kearney. My children are not star athletes nor the star students but these teachers have gone out of their way to help eac...
