Kent City Middle School is committed to challenging students to reach their full potential. Located just north of the village of Kent City, the middle school uses specific curriculum requirements to ease students’ transition to new grade levels. Students in sixth through eighth grade can explore their passions as they prepare for high school with activities both in and out of the classroom. Beyond core classes, students can explore topics like computer technology, art, sports and band. The school’s band performs in both concert and marching band events. Kent City Middle also offers some online classes, and students can create a flexible learning environment or take additional courses to stay ahead. With class sizes larger than the state average, Kent City Middle has turned to horizontally and vertically aligned curriculums, meaning students in each grade get the same information regardless of their teacher and lessons are revisited in advanced grades to ensure complete comprehension. One of the main supporting groups of Kent City Middle School is the Parent Teacher Community Organization, which aims to create positive, collaborative opportunities that empower and encourage students. Parents and community members participate in fundraisers and teacher appreciation events to help achieve this mission.
