I have loved being a student at Kodiak High School. I moved here from a small town in Wyoming, so I knew moving to another small town in Alaska was going to be interesting. The community at the school is very welcoming, I love nearly all my teachers, and there are opportunities around every corner to learn and grow as a person. I've been able to learn through a dual enrollment program, play in an amazing jazz band, cheer for an enthusiastic school spirit, and meet a diverse multitude of people from lots of walks of life. I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I don't have much criticism to give, only that I wish that the school were funded and supported more through the state. Many of our activities, school programs, and benefits are shrinking simply due to budget cuts. I've advocated for this at a state and nation-wide level, Kodiak is deserving of the opportunity to fund its programs to their needs.

My time at Kodiak High School was enjoyable, and I had many good moments especially with other people since Kodiak is a tight knit community. However I think that the high school should provide more opportunities for students interested in specific niches/hobbies. I know that its hard since this school does not have the best means to facilitate many new projects, but I would like to at least see a groundwork for this system.

I was a student here for my four years of High School and enjoyed my time spent. Kodiak has great teachers that care about your education.

Teachers are for the most part engaged and challenge the students. Tech courses are widely varied. Welding is top notch, while auto has slipped to sub standard. Academia is pushed heavily, as is college. If your kid wants to go to the military or tech route, be prepared to have administrative and so...

Being a new family to this school, I cannot comment on the actual school, administration & staff yet. But, I have to laugh at the review posted stating the school is "bad, pregnant women, smoking and drinking, etc." I think this is an age old thing in high schools? I consider myself a protective (so...
