Overall Sam Houston is a great school. It has been given a school report card grade of an A for the last few years. I feel it has prepared me for college as well as offered many opportunities to be involved through its programs, clubs and athletics. I am forever grateful to have attended this wonderful public High school.

Sam Houston is an okay school, all things considered. I think most students in most high schools hate each other but bond over one thing- our school is the best of the worst, the brightest dumpster fire. There are some issues with bullying, with exclusion, with overall nastiness, but to fix the issues inside the schools you must fix the community itself, which is a whole other issue in and of itself. But outside of the student body, the teachers get the job done and for the most part, they get it done well.

Sam Houston High School offers tons of great teachers and provides plenty of information and knowledge people need to know to get ready for college. However, students who go there aren't exactly the best types of people, at least not a lot of people I met here are. I would like to see more opportunities to get ready for college and more appropriate behavior from other students.

My children attend school in this district because they are the best schools Lake Charles has to offer. I just graduated from SHHS recently. I graduated with a 3.8 not because I worked hard, but because the coursework was so easy. My older brother graduated with a 3.5 and did none of his homework. Went to school here in the early 80's as a junior. I was given work that I had studied in 6th grade! Hope this school has improved since then.
