Founded in 2001, the Pinnacle Academy is a private school that is “dedicated to understanding and educating students who have learning differences.” The academy encompasses pre-kindergarten through high school, giving students stability and continuity throughout their academic careers.
Interested parents and guardians are required to fill out an inquiry form for each potential student as the first step in a five-step admissions process. Tuition varies depending on grade level. For those who can’t afford the fee, in-house scholarships are available, and the school accepts two scholarships from other sources.
The school practices multi-sensory instruction that encourages academic confidence and removes learning barriers. STEM learning is a part of the curriculum from primary school through 12th grade. An on-campus farm has a greenhouse, aquatic biosystems and a horticulture program, as well as animals.
Arts education opportunities include music, art classes and performing arts. Pinnacle puts on a stage show every spring and showcases student artwork for Mother’s Day.
Class sizes are small, especially in grades 2 through 6, to allow for direct instruction. Students in grades 7 through 12 can take elective classes and join interest clubs.
The Pinnacle Academy has more than 150 students and is located in a residential area just south of a major thoroughfare.
