Overall I have found my time at Lamar High School to be very enjoyable. The academics are done well, although they are overshadowed by sports. The culture here is a bit down due to a rift between the student body and administration. This can lead to a negative atmosphere that can affect learning.

I would like to see rules being enforced and would also like to see student favoritism end. I liked most of the teachers and some of the traditions Lamar had but it could of been better.

The students were rude and many neglected school work in place of partying and drinking. Th majority of the schools time and money goes to the football team. I had classes were the textbooks were held together with duct-tape because they were falling apart and others that only had enough for half the class. Many of the teachers focused more on trying to be friends with their students instead of teaching them.

When I attended as a student, it was much better. When my child attended, he had a horrible experience.
