Five Forks Elementary (Five Forks) is public middle school in Lawrenceville, Georgia, serving approximately 1,200 students in sixth through eighth grades, with an average student-teacher ratio of 17-to-1. The school opened in 1977 and is a part of the Brookwood cluster.
Five Forks implements the Academic Knowledge and Skills curriculum or AKS, which was developed by teachers and also includes input from parents, guardians and community members.
The school offers a variety of sports in which students can participate including boys' basketball, girls' basketball, cheerleading and soccer. Five Forks also has several performing arts programs such as band, chorus, orchestra and music technology.
The music technology program is for seventh and eighth graders and gives students the opportunity to learn Macintosh computer basics, musical instrument digital interface sequencing, music composition and keyboard skills. Students will also have the chance to make their own original compositions.
Chorus is a program that lasts through the entire school year and focuses on diverse vocal techniques, music history, music theory, ear-training, sight-singing, and the rehearsal of choral literature.
Five Forks applies the Positive Behavioral Interventions Support framework (PBIS). This sets high behavioral expectations for the students and holds them accountable for their actions. Educators will also re-teach the behavioral expectations as necessary and recognize students for positive behavior.
