GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

This school is actually really bad. There are only around 1-2 teachers that can actually teach so students end up not knowing what they are supposed to have been taught or having to teach themselves because they aren't being taught in class. Among these are the honors and AP teachers so the students who do actually want to learn are unable to and many complain about it but are told that there is nothing that can be done. Administration is poor about handling key issues including stopping violence and drugs. Some counselors actually try to discourage students from achieving higher learning than encouraging. There are extremely good music programs though with one of the best marching bands in the country and an extremely good orchestra program as well.

Grayson County high school has an extensive library and a range of food choices. The counselors are very nice and encouraging. You can tell that everyone wants the best for the students. There is a dance about twice a year and sports are highly motivating. Computers are used and are strongly protected through school resources. Overall, this is a welcoming school to attend.

Education is very important to most of the staff here. I feel my children have and are currently receiving a good education. My daughter is in orchestra and it is fantastic. I feel their sports department lacks. Favoritism plays a huge factor. And degrading the girls and comparing then does not help their confidence or self esteem.
