Small, STEM-based school, tight knit community, not very competitive but quite rigorous. Homework and classes are manageable, a bit lacking in activities normal high schools would have like sports, but you can still participate in sports at your home high school. Overall is nice.

It's the bomb, everyone is so accepting, the culture is so competitive yet so friendly. Best school for STEM, and it's got a rich history, for a school that's barely 30 years old. Just a great atmosphere, a bit stressful, but because everyone that got in was bullied before hand (statistical speaking, of course ) there are no real bullies. Best for a nerd like me.

If you're truly interested in STEM, this is a good school. It's not cut out for the social butterflies or more artistic kids. It's pretty dull if you have other interests. Also, it's a competitive environment. I had to prepare for a long time to get in. The problem is, with so much competition, it can suck your soul. The kids are pretty nerdy, which is fine if you're a nerd. If you are into sports and other stuff, you might want to reconsider your options. It can stifle you as a person or bring on major anxiety, which not even the most potent pills can fix.

As a founding teacher at High Tech, I had the opportunity to see a new form of education- a magnet school run by a vocational school district that drew students from all over the county. For kids, it was like being in a private school, but it was public. High Tech was the number one high school in t...
