The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Martin Luther King jr was very poorly ran. Majority of the faculty and staff did there job very poorly and were unprofessional. Every now and then you would have a teacher who genuinely cared. Hopefully you were assigned a counselor who did there job well. Overall I would definitely recommend you do not go there. Very depressing and unsanitary environment.

Somone brought a gun to school and a teacher got into a fight with a student. That should be enough of a review.

There is violence at the school. Some of the teachers do not care. You can ask to meet with the teacher about your child's grade and possibly get ignored. They do not prepare your child for college. The rigor is not there. Beware.

I attended MLK High, and I loved it. Gifted and advance placement classes were great to be in. The students in those classes were really serious about learning and continuing to college. The band was a great organization to be apart of and to assure your child a paid ticket to college if they worked...
