overall the school is trying to become better but alot still needs to be done. The cellings are literally falling on us. The old building needs to be redone and these teachers need to take a student sensitivity class. A lot of them don't know how to speak to us . It's not the greatest school in the world but as time goes on i hope things change

My experience at Martin Luther King Jr. High School has been nothing but a rollercoaster. when it comes to the temperament of the teacher it's a hit-and-miss, most teachers that I have a good relationship with either never took their class or have already taken their class. The building conditions are terrible the ceiling is leaking, and the bathrooms throughout the building are either out of order or clogged up. and not to mention the amount of fighting and crime that takes place in the school is beyond what it needs to be. Not to mention some of the faculty don't know how to do their job properly when it comes to getting our bags searched in the morning they only have one door opened when at least 1,000 students or more are coming off their bus whether it be the cold or the blazing hot we have to wait what could feel like an eternity because they don't want to open the other door to make searching an easier process.

Somone brought a gun to school and a teacher got into a fight with a student. That should be enough of a review.

There is violence at the school. Some of the teachers do not care. You can ask to meet with the teacher about your child's grade and possibly get ignored. They do not prepare your child for college. The rigor is not there. Beware.

I attended MLK High, and I loved it. Gifted and advance placement classes were great to be in. The students in those classes were really serious about learning and continuing to college. The band was a great organization to be apart of and to assure your child a paid ticket to college if they worked...
