Located within minutes’ walking distance of both South County Middle and South County High schools, Laurel Hill Elementary opened in September of 2009, to serve the surrounding neighborhoods’ growth following the 1990s baby boomlet. The school is conveniently close to the Laurel Hill Community Center, adding to the array of recreational options for students including tennis and basketball courts, swing sets and tot lots.
Recognized in their school song as the “mighty Lions, blue and gold” Laurel Hill Elementary’s students and staff are proud to encourage and learn from each other every day, upholding the school’s motto: “We love the journey of life-long learning.”
Led by Principal Janice Dalton, Laurel Hill Elementary serves over 900 kindergarten through sixth-grade students. To further enhance their education, students can choose from an array of development opportunities such as participating in an enriched music curriculum, serving as a safety patrol, and even joining the broadcasting team to create the school’s own student-produced daily news show, WLHES.
At Laurel Hill Elementary, everyone learns to think critically, work together and problem-solve to be better prepared for the 21st century. The school’s vision is to prepare students to be confident, respectful contributing citizens throughout the community.

My son has spent three years at this school, and he loves it and loves his friend, he is in 5th grade this year, and the teacher gives him a fair amount of school assignments that prepare him for the Middle school upgrade.

Laurel Hill got my two military children back on track with school. They did such a great job my daughter is in AP level IV classes and my son loves school again.
