I have gone to Elgin Local Schools since elementary school and have had a decent time being a comet. My favorite part of school every year is the week of homecoming when everyone is doing spirit week, powderpuff, pep rally's, the friday night football game and of course ending the week with homecoming that weekend.

Very few opportunities for accelerated and specialized classes outside the field of science, and no AP classes are offered at all. I had a few wonderful teachers, but ultimately graduated from Elgin High School feeling unprepared for college. Athletics and FFA are prized over academics, and ACT scores of 17 are considered normal. I would not recommend this school to anyone unless some major changes take place.

My Experience here at Elgin High schools is excellent, the teachers and staff members are great at doing their jobs and get involved with doing fun activities with us students throughout the week and the teachers care for the whole class and not just one person.
