Elgin High School was a great school, I enjoyed all of my years there. It was a very involving school and constantly was giving opportunities. One thing I would change about the school would be to create better systems. Sometimes I felt like the way things were done to help you learn weren't always the best but other than that I loved the school and would recommend to others to send their children there as well.

Very few opportunities for accelerated and specialized classes outside the field of science, and no AP classes are offered at all. I had a few wonderful teachers, but ultimately graduated from Elgin High School feeling unprepared for college. Athletics and FFA are prized over academics, and ACT scores of 17 are considered normal. I would not recommend this school to anyone unless some major changes take place.

I became a student at Elgin in 8th grade and overall I had a good experience. However, we often weren't taught some things needed for state testing or the ACT. Many teachers also had difficulty keeping track of papers or working with the internet making it hard for students to get a good grade.
