Throughout the years the staff at Merrillville have extended themselves to help most of the time when needed.

My name is Malik Smith I'm in the 12th grade, and I go to Merriville High School. MHS is a really good school when it comes to looking for a good experience in high school. We have a lot of clubs and a lot of good sports. Almost every year we get a new player from around the world to come and play for Merrillville sports, and with having a lot of options to pick from with clubs and sports, your first year of high school is very good. It gives you a lot of time to get a lot of experience your first year. Now the best and the worst about MHS, it's a very good school. I would say the best part is the teachers I had over the years. I had a few teachers in class where I would come back to them and still come and talk to them. I feel like it's good to have a few teachers you can come back and see over time. Lastly, the only thing I would want to see change is how the school favors one group of people or a sport. I think it would be better if all groups were equal; more people would come out.

My experience there was actually really fun due to the fact that I played sports, interacted with others, and just made the most of it. The only thing I would change is the food because it was not the best but other than that it was a great experience.

When my wife and I were considering moving from a top-rated school system in Illinois with our three school age children to Merrillville, we thought the school system was good but had a bad reputation. After ten years and soon to be three graduates, many activities, interactions with parents, studen...

this school was so terribly awful to me and my family. the teachers were supposed to be a mentor to the children, but they ended up being a disaster. they lose the children's work then proceed to blame it on the same kid. they are supposed to build your kids up and encourage them to grow and do bett...

Merrillville High School is a very high achieving school. It celebrates diversity and real life. The kids get along great. People that talk poorly about the school are not well informed and probably have left the district only to find out that the grass is not greener.Involved Parent
