As a tuition-free public charter school with a mission to develop character in all of its students, Legacy Traditional School - East Mesa inspires nearly 1,000 children in kindergarten through eighth grade in the East Valley area. When it comes to academics, Legacy Traditional follows the Spalding Method for its language arts program and enVision Math for mathematics, and incorporates arts and computer classes on top of its core curriculum to help foster well-rounded individuals. As a result, students consistently test above the state averages in reading and math, and Legacy Traditional often ranks in the top fifth of all elementary schools in Arizona. Standout approaches in education include the school’s own Mozart Performing Arts Program — where students learn piano, instrumental and vocal music, and music history and theory — and its health-minded Momentum Fitness Program, where students participate in physical activities 45 minutes a day, four days a week. Outside of class, the school offers a before- and after-school care program onsite with flexible schedules. Plus, the faculty and staff plan a calendar or fun events throughout the year to keep students active and engaged with their community, including movie nights, spirit days, fundraisers, art festivals, and school carnivals — so every day can have a positive start at Legacy Traditional.
