GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I liked the teachers that truly care about the students. I dislike the teachers who do not value their position and the state of the locker, textbooks, and ceiling tiles.

South Lamar is a small 1A school in the backwoods of Lamar County in Millport, Alabama. The school was built to hold 1,000 students but is now a K-12 with about 500 students. You get hands on with all teachers and you know everyone. Great faculty and staff. Excellent sports facilities for a 1A school. Well funded and a safe place to go to school.

Great classes and teachers that have high expectations. Those expectations are made clear for students and parents.

The reviews on here are very outdated so I’m deciding to write my own. South Lamar is an amazing school and I would recommend it to everyone. Everyone is very kind and it might have it’s cliques but every school has them. The teachers are the best around and genuinely care for the students and their...

I graduated from this school, have a mother who has taught at this school since it opened, and have also substitute taught at this school and I must say that I will send my children here gladly. It is a small school with small class sizes. It is an environment where the child can know everyone in th...

I went to SLS starting in the 8th grade and left as soon as I got my drivers license. Some of the teachers there are ok, and the rest only care about the "last names". It is a very cliquey school and if you didn't sart there in kindergarten than you will never fit in. I moved to Vernon and my grades...

I am a graduate of South Lamar. First of all any education is what you choose to get out of it. If you like to party and not focus on the curriculum then yes, I say you won't learn. However, if you study and are willing to do the work and ASK questions I found that the teachers are willing to help,...
