GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Most of the teachers are willing to help students succeed. The course work is fairly simple, but can be tedious. The students are mostly respectful. The ones transitioning to high school are the most that are rowdy.

Milwaukie Academy of the Arts forms each class to become a family. One of my most memorable parts with MAA was the first lunch my class had together. All the MAA teachers and the MAA students meet together in the auditorium and ate pizza together. It has been a tradition since the MAA program started. It was where you first meet everyone and where you start to form friendships.

I have had 2 children go through MAA and though we have to drive 20-30 minutes to get there each day, I recommend it to everyone that I know. It's curriculum is challenging as the curriculum is college based. However, they are part of the bigger school, Milwaukie High School, so they can be a part of things like band.

Excellent teachers, great curriculum based on project based learning for students who have a right brained artistic mind. Housed within a larger high school the electives available numerous and the small community of teachers and students in this charter school keep learning personal
