Monroe High School is known for being in the news--whether it be racist remarks or arrests to our commitment to sports and inclusion in the classroom. Sometimes it feels like we are all together through the good and the bad, and I think that's what counts most for us Bearcats.

When I was diagnosed with a learning disability my senior year I set up a meeting to get accommodations and the school ghosted me. The school has a drug problem and an issue with dealing with bullying. I loved a select few teachers there but most acted as if they hated kids.

There is a lot to be said about this school. On the one hand, Monroe is host to a sea of issues, like any high school. There are issues with student engagement, low school spirit, race relations, etc. However, on the flip side, Monroe is full of positives. People build friendships easily and for the most part, are kind to one another. Teachers try to help kids wherever they can.

My kids have friends from all different ethnicities and have never had a problem. It's a small town school and I think many people moving...
