The Montessori Academy of Tampa Bay has been in operation in Tampa, FL since 1993. The private school is located within the Lowry Park suburb and serves students from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The school enrolls approximately 120 students each year.
This campus is located within the middle of the city next to Interstate 275 and the area is known for copious amounts of shade trees – which is ideal for when students attend recess and outdoor learning activities.
The Montessori network has been in existence since the 1970s and the schools utilize multiple facets of teaching. Aside from core classes such as English and Reading, Montessori schools pride their curriculum for going a step further by teaching students how to look at life through the lens of inclusivity and humanity.
Montessori’s style of teaching also utilizes different variations and multiple approaches through visual examples and hands-on.
Practical life skills are also taught such as household cleaning, sewing, manners and tableside etiquette. And methods such as research, penmanship and creative writing are included as well. All students are enrolled in bilingual programs such as Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
The school also offers specialized enrichment programs such as cultural studies and critical thinking – encouraging students to also grow emotionally and relationally. All of which are good tools to help today’s students become equipped for their bright future.
