The public school teaches pre-k through fifth grade. Chelsea Prep uses a reading and writing curriculum by the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University.
Chelsea Prep also has a gifted program, open to children who score in the 90th percentile on the exam administered by the city. The school also has multiple academic programs such as chess curriculum courses, band, national dance institute, gardening enrichment, vocal enrichment and more.

I started attending this school in 2012 and graduated in 2019. I honestly had a really good experience and I have no regrets going here. I loved most of the teachers I had, but there are a few things I didn't like. 1. The students in the G&T program were treated relatively better than the students in regular classes. 2. As a person who loves music, I don't think the program was good enough and a lot of students didn't put much effort into it. 3. The food was good for a few years as they were serving Mozzarella sticks, chocolate milk, and pizza, etc. But later on the food tasted less edible and they tried making the food "healthier" but it tasted disgusting. Overall I like this school and would recommend it to anyone looking for a school for their child.

They consistently recruited student teachers from quality colleges to work with teachers and help build students skills. They also have some great local business partnerships who come into the classroom and teach students about various careers. Students were introduced to college informational sessions which inspired them for higher achievement.
