GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

there was a definite struggle with the academic and social pressure in freshman year. The academic pressure remains all four years for better and for worse. AP season is hard but it does push students towards higher levels of coursework thus preparing us better for college classes.

I had a pretty good experience but I definitely know there are down sides that could be improved on.

Newport is a rigorous academic school where every student is pushed to take hard classes and strive to attend the best college. However, it is a very competitive environment which is awesome for some students but for others it can be really overwhelming. This is a great school for some people but you have to be really academically driven.

The new principal and superintendent have made this school a good place to be. There is a renewed focus on bullying an drug problems, and school Spirit has never been higher.
