GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

There are a lot of extracurricular opportunities, but for kids that take the bus, those opportunities are difficult to take advantage of. The clubs often begin at 7:30 before busses arrive or end at 4:00 after the busses have left. That makes it so that a lot of students are not able to participate - especially if both parents work. The clubs that are available are active in the school and in the community as a whole.

The counselors and principals are available to both students and parents. There is a no tolerance policy regarding bullying, although I think that policy may be taken to the extreme because a verbal argument over a ball shouldn't be considered bullying. The dress code is in existence, but I wish they would enforce the length of shorts on girls a little more strenuously.

Nixa as a school district goes above and beyond for their students, and the junior high is no exception. Junior high is arguably one of the tougher age groups to manage, teach, and guide, but the staff at NJH don’t just know what they signed up for, they live for it.

If you are looking at reviews to find the best school, then please look further. There is apparently an influx of students to Nixa due to the ratings. My family was one of the new transplants to this area If you are not from MO and are new, they will have your child tested, and “IF” there is a spot,...

Leave the Nixa school district. The Junior High was end game for my family. Teachers screaming at students, coaches playing Eminem rap during class, toxic administrators and extremely poor leadership. This school is literally a bully’s playground. Get away from Nixa schools.

Our family made the choice to move out of the Nixa district mainly due to our experience at the Junior High. This is a mismanaged district and has been rapidly declining over the past five years. Look elsewhere!!
