Monacan High School is a high-performing school in Virginia, one of 11 high schools in the Chesterfield County school system. Monacan’s ninth through 12th grade students perform above state averages for math and reading test scores. Besides traditional core classes, there are two specialty centers housed at Monacan, the Center for the Humanities and the Health and Physical Therapy Specialty Center. The Center for the Humanities is an interdisciplinary program in liberal arts where students take core courses that emphasize a specific area of study in history, literature or the arts.
The Health and Physical Therapy Specialty Center provides students with academic and practical field experiences in various health careers. Students in this program must still take the four core subjects each year of high school. Both specialty centers require students to commit to and complete community service hours.
Monacan offers a variety of clubs and organizations for students to nurture their interests and connect with their peers. These activities include Drama Club, Anime Club, ultimate frisbee and Dungeons & Dragons.

I am proud to say that I will become a graduate from Monacan Highschool. Walking around the halls, going to after school activities, and talking with teachers made for some of my best memories. The teachers and staff are thrilled to walk through the doors every morning, exited to enlighten the future minds. I am blessed to go to this school and am excited to find my next educational experience.

I do love the theater and musical arts departments more than I could express. Many of the teachers here have a genuine care for their students I believe some schools lack. I wish there was much improvement with the food, access to bathrooms, and honestly more counselors.

Monacan is a very diverse school, I have enjoyed going to school there. There is a lot of options for each individual kid who goes there. I had my best experience with Monacan through the Soccer program at Monacan. I played on the JV team 9th and 10th grade year and this year I am playing on the Varsity Team. I have learned from my team and soccer coach. I have gained more experience when it comes to playing on a team, being a leader and learning how to navigate sports, school and working.
