Glenallen Elementary School, dating back to 1984, was the first school built in the North Port neighborhood.
The school’s approximately 700 students – nicknamed the Panthers – are in prekindergarten through fifth grade.
The school hosts celebrations and events throughout the year, including Spirit Week, where students can dress up to fit a theme. Literacy Week and the book fair are also student favorites. Past field trips have involved visits to the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota and a Special Olympics event. Extracurricular activities include a Panther Run, a sports day and color run. The school also hosts a STEM Night, where students participate in science, technology, engineering and mathematics activities such as building circuit creatures. There are also before- and after- school programs available.
Glenallen Elementary School, located in a suburban setting close to Heron Middle School and North Port High School, is part of the Sarasota County School District.

This school is a Title 1 school meaning they get additional funding to help students that may have remedial needs. The staff is cheerful and caring and it has a strong PTO this year, but I don't like that teachers are members, because then they can vote for whatever the principal wants. The best PTA...
