Orangeburg Prep is most definitely a very safe school. I would say that it is one of the safest schools in Orangeburg County. Orangeburg is not a very safe place to live, because the crime rate is so high. Two things I would like to see change at Orangeburg Prep is how athletes are treated by some coaches and there definitely needs to be more opportunities for students to get a head start on their careers.

The best and worst part is the small school feel. You know all the teachers and students and they known you... but that also means everyone is in everyone's business which means a high concentration and drama and rumors. I got great friends from this school but also felt isolated and with not connections.

A few of the teachers at this school care what they are doing, are very knowledgeable in their subject area, and care how their students are doing. Some teachers try, but don't really know what they are talking about all the time. A couple teachers have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Technology is strictly regulated, but is effective when it is allowed in the classroom.

My son is currently enrolled at the child care center at OPS. Tuition is the only thing I see an issue with, some other private schools / daycares are way cheaper. I have 3 children attending OPS, and each of my children has been a student since 5-K. I love the teachers we have had over the years as they genuinely care about their students, and they make suggestions/recommendations as needed to benefit the student. My only regret is there is no type discounted...

My daughter attends this school. She loves it and I am so happy with the teachers and the atmosphere. I agree that they are a little money hungry but I do not mind pitching in with fundraisers. My child has been going to Orangeburg Prep since first grade. One thing I do wish is that they would take more aggressive measures to secure the school. Access is way too easy. Overall, I am very happy with the education that she is getting.
