We have two kids at Tomoka, and we love it. Our teachers have all been great, and the administrators are very available and responsive. There are many opportunities for parents to engage, sometimes in the classroom (depending on the teacher) and always at the school level with the PTA. I'm convinced it's one of Volusia County's best elementary schools.

I have AD/HD and dyslexia...and have a hard time at times because I get emotional...teacher don't seem to care much they just want to write referrals. I have never been given extra time for tests or anything. My brother has been having a hard time with bullies and nothing has been done. He also is having a hard time reading and no help just a screamer type teacher that should have retired 2 yrs ago...and ps the ratio is more like 22 to 1

The principal Dr. Roseboom does not listen to your concerns and it’s impossible to connect with her and feel like she actually cares about what you’re saying or your child’s best interests. This is the only elementary school is the area that doesn’t do school plays, no musicals. Parents are never invited to school for awards either. I wish they would involve us more. Being rated a A school doesn’t mean much when you don’t put the effort into the other things that make a school great.

This school has gone down hill sadly. The administrators do not seem to care about the children. There is always an excuse. We will be looking into different schools next year.
