GreatSchools Rating

GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The students here are very kind and supportive, but the staff could use some adjustments. Some of the teachers here are just plain out rude and provoke their students.

There needs to be more teacher involvement with the students. Most of the time we are just doing busy work and not actually learning. The teachers need to better prepare students for the tests and for college. The facilities are mostly clean. The passing periods are a little short, as there is not enough time to go to the bathroom if you are coming from one end of campus to the other. The school day is from 8AM to 3:30PM, which is too long compared to other schools I have been to. Mustang Maintenance is a waste of time, as we do not use the time in their for anything. Instead of MM, we should get another 20 minutes of lunch.

I have taught school for over 15 years. I have worked for schools ranging from 2A to 5A. Overton is the best district that I have ever worked for. The staff truly loves the kids and the teachers, support staff and principal are awesome. The kids are very respectful. Even the few that do cause trouble...
