I really think Oxford has potential, however it could use a closer eye on individual teachers to see how their teaching behaviors may impact student performance. More student expression would also go a long way, such as allowing students to choose event decor themselves. More rewards for good academic performance would also go a long way in encouraging students.

This school has the pitfall many modern-day pic schools do of investing more time and money into sports than fine arts. Communication from administration often lacks. The dress code is ridiculously strict. Some of the rules in general are odd—no backpacks? Really? Certain teachers also create a facade completely different from regular class time when someone is scheduled and comes in and inspects the class.

My experience at OHS was interesting to say. The school was good teachers wise but its obvious the depart of education and admins don't care about the teachers at oxford. The school also funds the sports and athletics to the detriment to the other subjects and the arts. While i was their i witnessed teachers doing the work of 2-3 teachers but still getting payed low. there was also a saying at oxford that they would rather pay the state fine than to change the things going wrong.

The teaching staff is great. The administration and front office does not return phone calls or emails. The Principal does not return emails. Made multiple attempts as new student and family asking questions on excused adscences which we wrote up parental request. No response....we were stonewalled....

Most teachers were decent people and good at what they do. The administrative staff were about as useful and productive as someone who tries to eat mashed potatoes through their nose. Replace them and things would get better I guarantee it.

If I could give Oxford City School system and Oxford High school a negative star rating I would. My experience with Oxford from 2005-2017 was a nightmare. I am not from this town, I am not a gang banger or drug dealer as previous comments state; I am a parent of a beautiful child, we have one househ...
