GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My experience at Charles B. Aycock was overall great. Even though covid was at its peak during my freshmen year all the teachers still did their best to make learning fun and interesting. One thing that changed my experience was when new rules were added when our new principal came in. Even though all the rules were very strict he made me feel safer at school and also made my learning experience better with fewer distractions to bother me. I had several opportunities to make friends and have fun.

I'd love for there to be more opportunities for parents to be involved in the school. I also wish the school was cleaner.

Aycock was so good at first, Freshman-Sophomore I didn't try my best at all. I was trapped in a shell, I felt lonely. When I got in my junior year I began to open up and put my best effort into the year. I also began to get into clubs and different school activities.

Administration is hostile when you have questions. Poor professionalism in front of students by Dr. Moore and teachers/guidance counselors do not like to be bothered. They become defensive if called out for not following IEPs and rather shame you than form a partnership.
