Hi I'm Makala Byrom. I've gone to Port Barre since elementary school and I just recently graduated. The experience I had personally with this school wasn't the best. On a typical school day there was usually teachers not there and no work to do. I almost never had an actual class and it felt as if I was teaching myself,

My time here was enjoyed because I was involved in multiple extracurricular activities. This school is like a little community. The staff is enjoyable. With all positives come negatives. The school is a bit rundown and needs some major repairs. I feel as if some students should have more opportunities to join clubs, but there is a bit of a lack of activities.

The teachers do the best they can with the resources they are given. This is a very poor parish with little to no funds. We do so many fundraisers trying to keep our clubs alive and going. I wish they had more sports available so kids wouldn't leave as they get older for private schools with more opportunities.
