Portland Middle School
A strong, positive culture awaits students at Portland Middle School. From sixth through eighth grade, students in Portland Public Schools study at this highly rated institution in Ionia County. Situated right in the heart of Portland, a welcoming community of teachers connects with students in class sizes comparable to the district.
Young Portland Raiders compete in fall, winter and spring sports. These include volleyball, cross-country, wrestling, cheerleading and more. Students can also express themselves and practice their skills in art, music, band and other extracurricular activities. Core academic courses include math, science, fine arts, English language and technical education. Students interested in additional academic enrichment can enroll in other classes, such as personal finance or nutrition. These courses may change year to year, but Portland Middle School teachers are dedicated to offering diverse courses to broaden student horizons. Virtual coursework is also available for unique learning opportunities.
While Portland Middle is the only middle school in the Portland Public School District, it is a competitive option compared to others in the county. Parents, administrative staff and teachers support the school community to promote lifelong learning and Raider Pride in Portland, Michigan.

This is a nice school the teachers are great but the ways they teach are not the best

I'm sad to say my experience has not been good. My kids have been bullied by other students AND teachers. The administration is terrible. You can tell right away that they've automatically got a "oh, you're one of THOSE parents" attitude. Thank God our family believes that education begins at home....
