We love Portland Village School. When searching for a kindergarten for our daughter I randomly came across a Portland Village School advertisement video. It showed this soft rich approach to education that I was drawn to. I was interested in a tactile natural learning approach away from worksheets and computer games. I was interesting in the integration of art & music in daily lessons. From our first walk through the halls we knew it would be a good fit. The amazing work all the students produce from knitted hats to watercolor paintings to felted wool geodes. Our daughter thrived in the play-based kindergarten and delighted in outdoor play and making soup and bread with her class weekly. She's now in 7th grade and as the lessons get more challenging she's thriving in this beautiful place that gave her the developmentally appropriate space to learn. Even as a teenager she still loves school and we are lucky to have found this free public school option for her.

My first grader loves this school and absolutely adores their teacher. The teachers and SPED staff are a delight, and I truly enjoy seeing what my child is learning each and every day.

Overall our experience at PVS was negative. There are some great, caring teachers, but teacher turnover is high, and many are inexperienced and don’t seem to be supported.
