Formerly known as Fox Point Elementary School, Vartan Gregorian Elementary, located on Wickenden Street, was renamed after a renown local educator, Vartan Gregorian. Gregorian was, among many other things, the former president of nearby Brown University and a firm believer in the important role that colleges played in the educational lives of young students. In fact, Gregorian had considered the old Fox Point Elementary his adopted school. He partnered with educators and local leaders to expand its resources and physical footprint, connect its students with tutoring and mentoring, and hosted other beneficial activities. Today, the school attempts extend Gregorian's influence. Though he passed away in 2021, teachers and administrators strive to maintain the same constructive and enthusiastic environment Gregorian was always known to champion. Certainly, the school's academic. programs are rigorous, and students are held to a high standard in order to reach their full potential. It’s apparent that Gregorian’s legacy lives on in Brown University’s deep connection with this elementary school, as the University firms up the foundations first set by Gregorian three decades ago.

My son has been at this school for two years. I find that there is preferential treatment for the many white children but children of other races and ethnicity are treated like second class citizens. The teachers treat the white children better. The new administration does not care about the children they stand behind the teachers no matter what even if what they do puts your child's safety at issue. The prior administration was a lot better at balancing for a diverse group of children. I would not recommend.

This is the worst elementary school in Providence. If you’re a black or brown parent with black/brown children keep your child away from there. As a parent you have no voice and no respect. As a student, its even worst. My child was there Nd i have spoken to several parents and they have similar exp...

The worst teachers. Like coming from a private school my child just is so far ahead. Like the kids here are way behind they offer a poor curriculum. I had to take my child out of the school. It is true you get what you pay for.

One of the worst schools in Rhode Island. Safety is a big issue. The teacher left my child and another child at the park but collected the other children from the class. Luckily a half hour later another teacher arrived at the same park with her class and took the children back to the school. They c...
