One of the bad parts of Thurston High School is how sometimes there is a disconnect between the students and the administrators. It feels like they don't hear what we have to say and vice versa. And to me that it's a huge issue, the connection between admin and students is important in order to cultivate a positive school environment.

Thurston High School is overall a pretty good school to attend. I like that a lot of the teachers seem to want to get to know their students and enjoy the career they chose. One thing that could be improved is having more staff that are people of color. The population of Thurston High School is mostly black students and other students of color, yet there are not very many staff members who are people of color. I think it is important for children of color to see representation of themselves being successful.

Thurston was okay. I was able to study abroad through the school. The school wasn't always the cleanest. The teachers were pretty good at least most of them were. I had good advisors at the school who pushed me to be great.

Teachers are very caring and every teacher has tutoring hours after school for extra help in classes. Lots of AP classes and college prep stuff.

If the parent is involved then the most of the school staff is open to communication. There are some that don't wish to be bothered bu...

I have 2 children that have attended THS, one of them still is and does ok there and likes it. The other had ADD and THS was not able to help us with that issue in a timely manner while her grades and self esteem were dropping, so I pulled her out. She is a respectful, sweet girl but was being treat...
