Ebenezer Avenue Elementary is the oldest public school in Rock Hill, dating from 1921, and today serves approximately 400 students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. The Montessori education program was brought to the school in 2018, and the school now resides in a state-of-the-art facility specially designed for the program. Ebenezer Avenue Elementary is the only school in the county using Montessori education, which focuses on individualized learning that allow students to take responsibility for a self-directed learning path. This approach is designed to foster independence and confidence, both inside and outside the classroom. Unique features of the program include mixed-age classrooms, lessons of varying pace, hands-on learning, and student groups staying with the same teacher for several years to aid in learning continuity. While the teaching methods may be different, materials and lessons follow state standards and curriculum. The school meets or exceeds reading and math standards, above both district and state levels. As a Title I school (in which more than 53% of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch), the school receives additional resources for both student and staff development.

The teachers have been excellent. The students are able to choose subjects they are interested in and do research on them. Then the students present this information to others in the school.
