It's a private school so it's very family oriented. You know just about everyone on campus and everyone tries to look after on another. The teacher and administrators treat the students like kids of their own. The school not only prepares you for the college life but also the real world adult life.

Teachers don't teach (Ex: last year I was told to look up answers for a test), dress code is stuck in the 1800s (Mandatory haircuts, uniforms, etc.), dirty facilities, slow classes, administration treats high schoolers like children, feels like students are more of a check than a person.

The school is smaller compared to other public high schools in the area, so the students really receive one on one attention from the staff. Extracurricular activities are open to everyone, and it is easy to get involved in any program you have interest in.

My child’s experience was well below par. The low enrollment results in poor sports teams, not many clubs or activities and definitely the sense of community is lost. St. Joseph Academy has been a wonderful school for my daughter. While the St Johns County schools are well ranked, they are horribly overcrowded and have a difficult time supporting students that might need more personalized support.
