Saranac Junior/Senior High School is dedicated to providing “equal opportunities to promote learning, social growth, physical wellness and the skills necessary to become productive members of society.” Teachers, coaches and administrative staff work together to make this mission a possibility for Saranac RedHawks from seventh grade through 12th grade. As a public magnet school located in Saranac, Michigan, this institution is a competitive option for middle and high school learning in Ionia County. Extracurricular options that promote teamwork and hone skills include fine arts, athletics and other clubs. A strong music program includes choir and both junior and senior high band. These students perform in pep band, marching band, concert band and community parades. Students in the international travel club fundraise and plan trips to international locations. The Architects is a robotics team available for both Saranac students and students in other high schools in the area. Saranac RedHawks participate in organized sports at the varsity and junior varsity level as part of the Central Michigan Athletic Conference. Saranac Junior/Senior High School believes in the future of its students. The Saranac Promise, a college and vocation degree scholarship available for seniors, helps display that commitment. Funds available through this scholarship depend on the number of years the student has attended Saranac Community Schools as a proud RedHawk.

I loved how the teachers all knew all of the students name even if they weren't in their class. However I believe that they should offer more opportunities that would deepen the education of their students.

Going to school here since sixth grade has helped me to become friends with new people. The teachers here and very good at what they do. Despite the school being small. The school food kind of sucks but it depends on the day.

Overall I would say that my time spent at Saranac has being good, but the small class sizes and lack of classes to take can make it difficult to take classes that you would like to take. For me, I wanted to take more science or biology classes besides just the basic ones offered at all schools.

People like to bash Saranac for being a horrible school. This is hardly the case. My experience at Saranac has been great, if not better than it would be at any other school in this area. At saranac, everyone knows your name. The people there geniunely care about you and want you to succeed. If you...

Saranac middle school /high school is absolutely the worst school. I dropped off my student, and neighbors this morning, and as I'm in the parking lot, a bunch of high school boys are flipping me off. I roll down my window to ask what's the problem, and they say I'm in the bus area. Oh. OK. Well may...
