I'm finding it extremely hard here. With all of the students crammed in one space its so easy to feel invisible. the school has started construction and so the space is even smaller, being that a big part of the school is boarded off and the hallways are smaller. I wouldn't necessarily say its the teachers faults, I think they try their best with what they are working with. its nearly impossible to memorize 3,000 students. at my old school I had support from social workers and they knew my situation in and out. it felt like another home I guess. at Schenectady High school its completely different. the social workers are mainly for kids with special needs and there is a lot of favoritism for the "popular kids". if your not one of those two categories I find that teachers and staff get really snippy with you and it honestly makes it hard to show up. I will also say if I did have an issue I wouldn't feel comfortable or safe to ask, it feels more robotic then genuine.

The best part of my experience is the leadership academies. A part of Schenectady High School that I feel could have improvement is switching from IB to AP programs instead, and more resources for college readiness, with guidance and application processes for which schools are best to apply to.

My experience at this Highschool ranges from hating it to liking it. Once you make good friends at the school it is easier to get through the day.

Like others have said, the school has a negative reputation, not great overall test scores, an overcrowded high school, etc. However, the diversity of students, class offerings, IB program, college courses, performing arts program, extra-curricular activities, after school clubs, etc., make this sch...

Schenectady High School's diversity, arts program, and IB program prepared me greatly for college and to receive a BS from a top 50 school, to then move on to a competitive work environment in New York City

I'm a sophomore this year and I think have learning differences my self, the teachers really want to see you improve. The Bluse Roses Theatre Company is amazing and great for kids lookingto go into Acting in college. I will be taking 3 pre-IB classes and I like how the people I've talked to have tol...

SHS is an amazing school. It gets a lot of bad attention because negative things about the school are emphasized more than the positive things. Overall, it has a full IB program, offers the Inspire program, Smart Scholars, Votec, Pre-IB, and IB certificates as well as special Ed classes and classes...
