Founded in 2005, Gateway Academy is one of the only schools in the state of Arizona exclusively serving students with autism. The faculty here believe every student should be embraced for their strengths, differences and what makes them exceptional.
As an accredited private school serving the greater Phoenix area, Gateway Academy offers a structured academic curriculum for nearly 100 students in grades six through 12 who have been diagnosed with Level 1 Autism Spectrum Disorder.
In addition to classes, students can engage in programs specific to their individual needs, including equine therapy, where students can engage in communication, emotional bonding and sensory experiences; dog therapy, where they can improve vocalization and social skills; and music therapy, which can help lower anxiety.
Other core offerings include counseling, community service, social language, sensory integration, adaptive physical education and even a virtual reality lab—to empower students both socially and physically. With a well-tended, 8-acre campus, the school also has plenty of outdoor space and facilities for team sports.

I was lucky to attend at this school. In other public schools, I had troubles with too many student in one classroom and teachers had no time to help so I was left behind.

Gateway Academy has been a blessing to our child. Our son's public school was not addressing his uniqueness and the teachers did not want to give him the additional support that he needed. The ESA scholarship fully funds our tuition at Gateway and we have seen such amazing growth in his social skills after only a year in the program. We love all of his teachers, support staff, and administration.
