Opened in 1961, Yavapai Elementary School (Yavapai) has been a local landmark since the early days of the mid-century housing boom in South Scottsdale.
Today, the school overlooks a lake in a scenic stretch of the beautiful Vista del Camino Park within the greater Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt. Part of the Coronado Learning Community in the Scottsdale Unified School District, Yavapai is a public school serving students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Faculty here follow the school’s mission to “compassionately and respectfully educate the minds and hearts” of their students.
Most notably, Yavapai complements rigorous academics with instruction in music, the arts, and physical education, in addition to integrating state-of-the-technology into the curriculum. Plus, the school offers academic support, tutoring, and acceleration opportunities through specialists in reading and math/science.
Students can participate in a number of programs based on their needs, whether they’re suited for the gifted program or require special education — or just want to get a jump-start on the future on the school’s award-winning robotics team.
Extracurriculars include band and orchestra for fourth- and fifth-graders, as well as a long roster of after-school Enrichment Zone classes, including dance, golf, Young Rembrandts, chess, and cooking, among many others.

there is no communication and teachers I have had experience with just don't care.. too many children and not enough caring teachers.

New Principal lacks interaction with parents. She doesn't seem very approachable neither does the vice principal. I hope they both will become more supportive with PTA as the previous principal was. We really miss her.
